Erratic boulder

Also known as ‘Corna di Scalvino’ or ‘Corna del Màsa’, this erratic boulder – easily recognisable by its characteristic
central cleft – has spanned millennia of history, becoming the protagonist of numerous popular legends linked to witches and witchcraft rites. It is an imposing rock of Verrucano conglomerate, transported during the great ice ages by one of
the two branches of the Brembo glacier: that of Olmo or that of Branzi. When the imposing expanses of ice, which once covered the mountains as far as the peaks and extended as far as Zogno, receded, the boulder was deposited right
where we can admire it today.

Goat Bridge

The Ponte delle Capre (Goat Bridge) is located in the municipality of Lenna, on the border of the Piani di Scalvino.
Made of stone and cobblestones, this fascinating architectural work dates back to the end of the 17th century and today is part of the Valle Brembana cycle and footpath. With its elegant round arch, the bridge crosses the Brembo riverbed; it
was partially destroyed during the flood of July 1987 and subsequently restored to preserve its beauty and functionality.

LEN4

Santa Lucia Church

The little church is a place of special devotion during the feast of Santa Lucia, when it welcomes the faithful from all over the valley. The current building was reconstructed in a different position from the original, which was moved when the modern road was built. It is therefore a recent structure, echoing the neo-Gothic style of the parish church of San Martino in Piazza Brembana and the typical forms of late-medieval churches.
The painting by Carlo Ceresa kept here is one of his masterpieces: it depicts a Madonna and Child in the centre and two saints on either side, including Saint Lucia on the left. In this work, the Madonna shows an ideal face, a sign perhaps of a period in which Ceresa was influenced by the classicism of Guido Reni. The two saints, on the other hand, appear to be realistic portraits in the style typical of Ceresa, a native of San Giovanni Bianco.

LEN5

Madonna Della Coltura

The Sanctuary of the Madonna della Coltura stands in the meadows of the Lenna plain, where there once stood a forge, known as the ‘Gromo forge’, with four nearby warehouses. Oral tradition has it that a young boy, employed as an apprentice blacksmith, every time he went to the warehouse to fetch coal, paused to contemplate an image of the Blessed Virgin of Sorrows painted on a wall. One day, that sacred image appeared to him brighter and more radiant than usual. Following this prodigy, the forge was demolished in 1600 to make room for the Sanctuary, erected in honour of the Madonna. To this day, the Sanctuary is still visited by the faithful and devout pilgrims, certain that Our Lady of Sorrows grants graces. The image of the Madonna, the protagonist of this story, has been preserved and venerated for over four centuries in the ancon of the high altar, with the inscription ‘Octobri 1580’ clearly visible.

Lake Bernigolo

Lago del Bernigolo is an artificial lake created in 1947 to channel its waters towards the Lenna power station. Located in
the municipality of Moio de’ Calvi, it is surrounded by majestic mountains and lush nature, which are best revealed by
walking along the paths that run along its shores. The circular route known as the ‘Giro del Lago’ (Lake Tour) crosses
Passo Pioda and Cantone Santa Maria: it is an itinerary of about three kilometres, of medium difficulty, and can be
covered in about an hour’s walk.
